The Journey’s End is located on beautiful Ruth Lake, only 9 miles from Highway 36 on Mad River Road, in Northwestern California. We’re just across the road from the Ruth Lake Marina. Travel to The Journey’s End via a scenic drive through the world-renowned Redwoods (on highway 101) or the beautiful Shasta-Trinity and Six Rivers National Forests (from interstate 5.)
Ruth Lake offers excellent fishing and water sport activities. Rainbow trout and bass are generally abundant year-round, while large crappie and bluegill are most abundant in the late-spring and summer months. Catfish and Kokanee salmon are also available.
Waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing comfortably share the lake with fisherman. Frequently the lake surface is like “glass” until afternoon.
There are beautiful campgrounds around the lake with great beaches for swimming and relaxation. The surrounding area also offers hiking, deer and bear hunting and wildlife viewing.
The Ruth Lake area has many events throughout the year. There are three Bass Fishing Tournaments that occur the first weekends of April, May, and June. The Ruth rodeo and dance draws competitors and visitors from all over the state occurring in late July. The Ruth Lake Summer Festival highlights food, arts and crafts, and live music occurring in August. There is also a self-directed SUV “Poker Run” on the Shasta-Trinity Backcountry Discovery Trail.
Come and make The Journey’s End your vacation destination from early April through the end of hunting season in late October. Motel rooms and cabin are available all year.
